History of HTML

HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language, is the standard markup language used for the creation of web pages. HTML is the backbone of the internet, and it has undergone several changes and developments since its inception.

The first version of HTML, HTML 1.0, was developed by Tim Berners-Lee in 1991 while working at CERN. It was a simple language with limited capabilities and was used to create simple web pages with basic formatting.

HTML 2.0 was released in 1995 and included new features such as tables, image maps, and form controls. This version of HTML helped in the development of more complex web pages and the formation of a more structured layout.

HTML 3.2, released in 1997, introduced style sheets, frames, and improved support for tables. This version of HTML also included the ability to define scripts, allowing for more interactivity on web pages.

In 1999, HTML 4.01 was released, and it included more advanced features such as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and support for multimedia elements such as video and audio. It was also designed to be more compatible with different types of devices and browsers.

HTML5 is the advanced version of the previous HTML versions and it came up with multiple features and work capabilities. This was released in the year of 2008 but it became popular in 2011 and boomed from 2014. The main function of HTML5 is for the implementation of light weight applications.
